30 Powerpoint Presentation Facts

  • To create presentations, you write and design slides.
  • The Slide Layout Pane contains a set of 27 different Auto Layout formats that arrange various types of objects on slides.
  • Objects include such things as titles, charts, graphics, or bulleted lists that you might want to place on a slide.
  • The Title Slide is the default setting for the first slide in every presentation.
  • The
    Title Bar (Microsoft PowerPoint) and the name of the presentation you are working on.
  • The title bar appears at the top of all Windows programs.
  • The
    Standard Toolbar contains icons for some of the most commonly used commands. Command such as saving, opening, and printing are included
  • Placeholders
    contain formatting characteristics for items to be added which saves time in creating your presentations.
  • View buttons
    allow you to quickly switch between PowerPoint views, which change how your presentation is displayed on the screen.
  • The
    Status Bar, displays information about the number of slides in the show, the Design Template in use, and contains buttons for easy access menu commands.

    Slide Sorter Pane displays thumbnail representations of each slide in a presentation.
  • You can use the Slides tab to navigate by clicking on the slideyou want to view.
  • You can also drag a thumbnail to move a slide to a new position in your presentation.

    Menu Bar displays a list of menus that you use to give commands to PowerPoint.
  • Clicking a menu name displays a list of commands-for example, clicking the Format menu name would display different formatting commands.
  • The
    Formatting Toolbar contains buttons for the most commonly used formatting commands, such as making text bold or italic.

    Slide Pane displays the slides one at a time, as they will appear when they are printed or displayed in a presentation.

    Task Pane lists commands that are relevant to whatever you’re doing in PowerPoint.
  • You can easily hide the task pane if you want to have more room to view a document: Simply click the close button in the upper-right corner of the task pane.
  • PowerPoint displays a slide containing placeholders which identify the placement and location of the objects on the slide.
  • Each placeholder contains directions to help you complete the slide.
  • If you start typing without selecting the text placeholder, PowerPoint automatically places the text in the first text placeholder.
  • To play the slide, click the
    Slide Show button in the View Buttons.
  • To return to the Slide View press the
    ESC key on the keyboard.
  • You can create a new slide by Clicking the New Slide button on formatting toolbar or by Choosing New Slide from the Insert menu.
  • To change the slide layout, simply click on the desired layout in the slide layout pane.
  • You can also insert new slides in between current slides. To do this, click on the 2
    nd slide in the slide sorter pane and then select “New Slide” from the formatting toolbar.
  • You can change the size of a selected picture on a slide using the sizing handles as well as rotate it’s original position with the green rotating handle.
  • You can print entire slides, handouts with multiple slides, notes pages, and outlines for your presentations.
  • To insert a picture choose Clip Art from the Insert menu.
